Introduction

Welcome to the Youthreach page. Youthreach is a service for early school leavers run by the Adult Education Section of Clare VEC. Youthreach is a national programme of the Department of Education & Science.

Remit

Youthreach is a programme of education, training and work experience for early school leavers, provided in an out-of-school setting. Youthreach aims to develop the core skills needed for further learning, and to prepare young people to progress to further education/training or to employment. We approach education and training in a holistic and person centred way. Youthreach helps meet the needs of people aged 15 to 18 who have left school early with either no qualifications or minimal qualifications.
Young people will usually complete a foundation year leading to FETAC level 3 certification and progress, where appropriate, to Applied Leaving Certificate for the following two years. Youthreach is also enriched by personal development work, educational trips, a range of crafts, sport and recreational activities. Youthreach is a full-time round the year course. The course is free of charge and a training allowance, which varies depending on age, is paid

Target Group

Youthreach provide lifelong learning opportunities for young people aged 15-18 who have left school early for various reasons with either no or minimal educational qualifications.
